there is a rapid clicking coming from the engine when I exceed 40 mph. As I increase speed the intensity of the clicking increases as well, at 70 mph it is extremely loud. The clicking will go away at certain speeds like 60-65 mph and then there are times when it won't do it at all...maybe 30% of the time the clicking doesn't happen.

I have not noticed any loss in power or shifting dificulties.

Please help if you can, i just bought this and would like to get back to the dealer with some knowledge to ensure they repair correctly.

okay now that i think about it the sound might better be described as a vibration sound, certainly not feeling a vibration just hearing it.

I had a tech at the dealership ride with me and he thought it might be caused by an air or wind deflection as the sound comes and goes regardless of throttle force or rpm change.

He thought there was a TSB some time back for an air deflection/diversion plate, but he wasn't sure if this pertained to the 04 Maxima.

Anyone have a clue?

Welcome to NICO, the best car club in the world.

It's very difficult to diagnose noise problem online. From your description, probable problem could be the front struts, or shield on exhaust system around the engine, or worse, failing bearing in the axle.
