Hi everyone new to forum ...not new to cars

My 04 nissan quest won't Rev past 2k (est?)

Odb2 port "not able to connect to ecu" error

Replaced by prev owner
Crank sensor and throttle body position sensor
By previous owner

Cleaned corrosion under ecu and repaired rusty bracket, after installing van would not start and showed security light
My friend recommended taking the ecu apart to inspect since it was probably bad, I did, found mousture inside, cleaned dried reassemble and van started fine
back to original problem no rpm over 2k
No odb connect to ecm

Since my mini bluetooth scanner won't connect, thinking that I may need cable type

I read somewhere that the nissan does not like the wi fi type obd scanners which worked fine on my 00 and 02 truck so suspect ecu damage

Ordered consult 2 scanner but can't find where the plug is online...so far ...searched high low

In the 04 quest manual under engine control says all about using consult 2..except where darn port is ugh
Ordered one off ebay hope it will connect
Says up to 2000...but factory man says consult 2

Answering my own post...still stuck at not being able to rev, sprayed some cleaner into intake RPM did not increase so doubt fuel pump issue

ECM - Debacle
suspect its bad with water inside previously...
still kind of stuck here
guess buying a "reman" computer then take to stealership
king windward nissan already quoted OVER $1500 to replace ecm parts and labor with new NISSAN OEM ECM... $1.216.00 ECM part plus labor
+ labor to hook up your consult plug and make it work? what..lucky you live hawaii

I picked up a used ECM and matching key/immobilizer ring and BCM or body compter at the junk yard yesterday unfortunately its for a 4 speed.. so no work
numbers on the ECM are "VO"
MEC33-012A1 3X20

The numbers listed (below) online NISSAN are different on the ECU/ECMs number on the actual ECM/ECU ABOVE :werd:

do not match the "replacement" nissan numbers listed ?....of course

factory numbers for 4 speed SE quest (or course verify with your VIN number!) The S and SL have the 4 speed transmission

Nissan Genuine Factory Part Fits 2004 Nissan Quest SE
Part Number: 23710CK001
ECM 4 speed auto trans -------------$764 online plus ship

The SE has the 5 speed transmission. (MINE IS THE SE)
For a 2004 nissan quest the factory number with 5 speed transmission
Nissan Genuine Factory Part Fits 2004 Nissan Quest SE
Part Number: 23710CK015
ECM 5 speed auto tran---------------$764 online

REMAN ECU at ROCK online ....same numbers above cardone remanufactured
$291 plus $70 core charge =$361 plus shipping

Option 3
send to be repaired online $200-350$ they repair or re-program yours and send it back,
then need nissan to setup the nats, BCM ect (?)

from what I see the factory numbers are similar except for the last two numbers...

It appears that the smaller nissan "consult " plug up to year 2000 after that it uses standard 16 pin OBD2 plug (correct me if I'm wrong)

ebay "professional " scanners some are not enough...SOME cheaper ones not able to link nats, bcm ect
or need more software cards ect...more $$$$
code scanners on ebait and other places read codes but clearly state that "they cannot reset nats" and some "will not work with nats card"////
and need bcm or body computer software hardware seperate

you go from like $21.00 to $1700.00 on these
gosh...for just to make your car ECM work? they violate owner and user rights... stupid
