Well guys - I replaced the bulbs on my clock thinking it would fix the lighting problem but it did not. I happened to notice that the illumination control switch appears to not be working (stays fully bright it appears). Could this be causing the problem ?

Thanks very much for any help !

And does anyone know where I can get one - besides the dealer ?

I would think it's a dealer only item, but it may be duplicated across multiple cars - so if you could figure out what other cars used that same switch - you could possibly get a used one. I'd be fairly comfortable with a used one, since I've never heard of a failure.

If you haven't done so, check out your factory service manual at http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/

Thanks for the help... Is it possible it could be some kind of fuse ? It just seems that the switch isn't working at all so I was just guessing that could possibly be the problem for the clock lights also (like the illumination switch is stuck on off or low)... but wouldn't that also affect the instrument cluster lights ?

I may just take this to Southwest Infiniti here in Houston and have them take a look...

Possible that it's the switch I guess. Any chance that it's just unplugged? Did the switch problem show up after you had the dash apart to replace the bulbs?

There's a TSB (technical service bulletin) about a dark clock - but it just says to change the bulbs, which you've already done.

How much for the switch ... ? Do you think it will fix my problem ? I've looked at the FSM deal and can't really tell which if any fuse is involved with this switch...

Thanks again..

No - I really believe the switch problem has been there - I just never use it to be honest. I've had some issues since I bought the car a year ago - mainly with some lights being removed from the instrument cluster. I somehow managed to take it apart and get it fixed and back together - that helped resolve the cruise control problem which the owner thought was the ABS control module. It turned out to be a wheel speed sensor and cruise control calibration problem.

As I've been tinkering with that switch, I've also tried the switch next it which I guess is supposed to raise/lower the headlights ? That apparently isn't working either as I don't see any difference when I turn it either direction. Something sure is looking suspicious AGAIN... I'll keep tinkering around but this is probably
over my head when it comes to tracing down electrical problems... I'm hoping this could be some kind of fuse/relay problem...

Thank you for all the help...

Hey guys - quick update here. It turned out to be a blown 15a fuse in the box by the battery. My clock works now and my illumination switch + headlight adjustment are also working now !!!
