04 Pathfinder SE rear end noise

I just bought a 2004 pathfinder SE 4wd. I have had a noise which sounded like a wheel bearing going bad coming from the rear of the vehicle. The dealer tells me after they replaced my front wheel bearings , that i need a complete new rear end!! Its under warranty so no loss on money but I wanted to know if this was a commom problem in this vehicle? Please help!

I always thought a little drivetrain noise was normal on pathfinders. Mine always made moise. Others I drove did too.
