Not sure if its the same in all the other years. This has to be the worst Bose radio I have ever had the pleasure of listening too.

Also when you first try to use it to play a cd they skip forever.. Even if there brand new.

I wasn't planning on upgrading but damn. Its like its all bass with crappy trebble even with the bass at -5

I will agree with you on the '04 BOSE sounding like crap.

BOSE did not do their homework and neither did Nissan. The coustics of the PF do not work with the speaker arrangement. The soundstage is way off and so is the tone.

I think the tweeters are too far from the woofers in the door causing too much stage separation.

Problem is, I'm not sure what the problem is...is the problem with the head unit or is the problem with the BOSE amp or is it a combination of both.

Most systems have issues with poorly performing HUs and so a simple swap and then everything sounds great.

The PF really needed a separate woofer so the door speakers weren't pulling double duty.

I have an 01, I changed the HU and added a sub and now it sounds great. might be just the HU. The equalizer on my deck is set to play pretty much just mids and highs out of the bose speakers while my subs do the bass work

I'm not too picky with audio... I'm the kind of guy who'll be happy with a pair of $20 earbuds.

However, the Pathy is a bit frustrating for a few reasons already mentioned. First of all, my equalizer is also cranked down to -5 on bass and it's still way too much. That's just a minor annoyance, though.

What gets me... when it gets cold, say below -20C / 0F, the CDs start skipping. It's OK for a while if I leave it in a warm garage, but if I'm parked outside it skips until the cabin gets really warm. For a Chilkoot Edition -- a Pathy designed for Canadian climates -- this is just idiotic, since it routinely gets below -30C here. Winters I usually resort to playing music through a tape adapter or FM tuner.

i thought my cd player was the only one that did this. In the mornings, anything less than 50f, cd's skip until it warms up. this is in an 02 qx4

Personally I like this one...

It plays CD's at 52x! That's some fast CD reading.

I have an ASUS 52X CD-ROM in my computer. I never thought I could do that with it.

Thats Hilarious is that yours? why not use a black drive if anything

I said this in another post but in case you didn't read it.

If you want to use the bose speakers you can use the speaker lines that are hooked to the original HU. The only thing extra you have to do is use the amp turn on wire that is already supplied. The reason people have problems is they hook up a new deck hook up all existing wires and cant figure out why the speakers wont play. The reason they wont play is because all the stock speakers are run off amps of there own and these amps also need to be turned on by a remote wire.

Hahahahahahaha no, it's not mine. I saw it today while I was browsing one of my nerdy tech blogs.
