Hey everybody. I was wondering how does the AWD work in our Murano. This is my first AWD i wanted to know when i LOCK the AWD does it stay in AWD tll i turn it off? or does it come on when the wheels start to slip?

Some people say it turns off at a surten speed. But if it does do that. Is there even a reson to even lock the AWD? When would you guys lock your AWD and when not to. Thanks

only lock the AWD if you get stuck in deep snow or mud. There is no central differential on the murano (i would consider this 4WD for this reason) so if the all AWD is locked, and the tires still have a good amount of grip, you will bind the drivetrain. It will return to FWD at around 20mph because at this point, you have more than enough momentum that 4WD is not need. You murano will also automatically engage the rear wheels if the fronts loss grip, this works great for 99% of the time since you murano is a glorified altima and you shouldn't be testing its off-road limitations, I believe it can automatically lock the AWD at any speed if the front wheels slip. The only time i used my 'LOCK' feature this year was to get out of my development before they plowed, after the 20" storm here in DC, as soon as I hit the roads, I let AUTO take over.
