I have an 04 maxima, and just recently it started turning off on me. hooked my AutoTap to it and i pulled a "P0340 camshaft position sensor A circuit (bank 1)". Where is that sensor located? pics would be useful. If its under the intake manifold, im gonna go ahead and change the spark plugs since im at 86,xxx miles.

Camshaft position (PHASE) sensor, Bank 1 is close to the Throttle Body. Here's the link to the FSM, 'ec' (Engine Control System) chapter. Look for DTC Code P0340.

Hi guys,

newbie to the forum here... I have an 03 I35 and over the summer was having problems with the car and ended up having the Camshaft Position Sensor Bank 2 replaced.

Well the service engine soon light came on again and had a local pull the code and it said Camshaft Position Sensor again but they didn't specify which Bank. I'm awaiting my own DTC reader to pull the code again but was wondering if anyone might be able to answer the following question in the meantime:

Which Bank of Camshaft Position Sensor's is the "Angled Sensor"?

When I look up trying to buy the Sensor online I get two options, angled and straight...

Thanks all! Though this is my first post, I have already gained tremendous amounts of useful information from this Forum... saving me thousands already!

Use the link provided, starting on page EC-317 (Engine Control System chapter) and explore from there.

Thank you loystock. Worked like a charm, with the exception of trying to release the sensor from the harness... my fingers are still sore!

Taking care of this sensor problem myself also allowed me to add my new Injen CAI. I didn't put the down pipe on it though yet as I read in other places that perhaps keeping it just on the short pipe for the winter months might be better?

All in all, I think this was a pretty painless endeavor save for the frustration of the harnesses and sensor's releasing and the killing of two birds with one stone taking off the factory air intake.

This forum in just two adventures has now saved me $1000+!

Thank you all!
