I am having a problem with my trunk, when I press the key fob or button on door to open the trunk it opens but immediately closes. To open it I have to pull the trunk up and fight it from closing. Any suggestions as to what it may be?

I'd say you need to get new trunk struts, that or put your trunk lid on a diet. The only way it could be much else would be if the 04 had an automatic trunk closing system that was malfunctioning.

Yes. typical issue. The alternative is to be outside at the trunk when you hit the button on the remote. Happens more to me whan it's cold as the struts don't move as easily.
I've also had success placing a screwdriver in the body panel gap between the trunk lid & the body panel and as the trunk is popped, the weight of the screwdriver handle moves the trunk up high enough not to be closed back immediately. Of course it's ghetto to do and I risk scratching paint, so normally I use the remote or the key.

The struts are no fun to replace as they require the rear seat to be moved, but it's possible.

I've also thought about placking a light density foam on the sil so that it expands when the trunk is released, pushing it high enough.

Someone had told me it could be the struts but, I imagine they are a pain to replace on this car. I have to admit one thing about this that's funny is watching the car wash people trying to get the trunk open, lol..
