04 M45 Quirks and Questions

Ok - so I got the car finally and love it. There are, of course, a few issues. and I'm looking for help on resolving them.

1) Passenger mirror stays down after reverse and return to drive. I searched and it looks like this could be the mirror motor?
2) Related to #1 - the mirrors sometimes work from the switch (both sides) and sometimes don't. Is this the switch itself or the mirror motors.
3) If mirror motors, can I just buy that component or am I stuck buying an entire new mirror assembly?
4) Recommendations on getting bluetooth and/or AUX setup. I have seen videos on this online - wondering what opinions are from this community on that. Looks like GROM is one way to go?
5) I can't find OEM carpet sets for this car so wondering what others have done here. The front ones are shot - the rear one is ok, but I'd like to replace them all and I'd like a good set, not something cheaply made.
6) Finally - for now - rear trunk will not pop up when I hit the key, and the auto latch grabs it and brings it back down right away. Is there a way to return the "spring" to the trunk lid?

Mirror motor stuff. You don't have to buy a brand new mirror. I'd just source a used one off eBay. The memory reset issues aren't very common to Y34s, so I'd take my chances.
Talking of memory, try resetting the mirror memory positions as outlined in your owner's manual. Or do a good ole module reset by disconnecting the battery overnight.

I have an 03, tape deck in the console cd changer in the glove box, my cd changer has died twice, I was thinking of putting an aftermarket single din head unit in where the tape deck is, but custom + wiring = pricey so for now I am thinking of putting in a 04 cd console and see if it will at least play cd's. but eventually custom headunit install will likely be the way to go.

Yeah luckily mine has both. I purchased the GROM Audio adapter - called them and it's supposed to work with the M45. Will see and I will let you know.

Make sure you get the grom bluetooth adapter. I bought the usb adapter and it sounded terrible, the volume sounds overdriven so even low volume on the stock volume knob sounds distorted.

I have heard from others that the bluetooth one works without that issue.

I bought a tape player adapter for my 03 cassette deck from 5 below and works perfectly. I believe the mirror issue is caused by the switch because the way I get mine to work is repeatedly pressing it in the direction I would like. The mirror getting stuck after reverse is most likely the mirror itself however you can simply disable the reverse tilt feature as I've done. When I first purchased the car the CD changer would be very picky with playing certain CDs but I purchased a CD player cleaner kit from Best buy and haven't had an issue since.

I bought a bluetooth cassette adapter https://www.amazon.com/ION-Audio-Casset ... te+adapter Which works perfectly but I have found that on this car, 03 M45, the sound quality suffers through any tape cassette adapter, wired or wireless. I have tried this on other cars with cassette decks and the sound was perfect. If I play a cassette in the M45 it sounds like it should bass fills the car as you would expect from the sound system. but using a adapter the sound is almost Tinny.
