My '04 M45 Drivers seat is squeeking! Sounds like newlyweds on a cheap bed frame when I go over bumps, accelerate, or slow to stop!

Now I know what you are thinking... "Lose some weight, fat*ss!"

Ha.. Ha...

I am 6' tall and 210Lbs. I am NOT the one with the weight problem that started this fiasco.

It all started two weeks ago when I let my best friend (6'6" & 286Lbs) test drive my car since he has the new G37 Type-S. Ever since his large-self drove the car for only 40 minutes, my drivers seat has been feeling looser, and looser over time.

I can reach in through the drivers door, grab the seat-back on the inner side by the storage armrest, pull it towards me, and feel the looseness

I will pop the tabs and check the seat bottom bolts Monday after work, myself.

I have an appointment with the dealer Wednesday 4/16 for them to take a look, but wanted to get y'alls opinion on the matter (car is still under warranty).

I am the second owner of this car and purchased it only a few months ago.

Anyone else have an '03-'04 with rough-pavement "personality?" LOL

Thanks in advance,44K miles on my M45MattPhiladelphia, PA.

by the way, the road conditions in my city are rough everywhere. My M has had a hard time getting used to this new pavement since I brought her here from Chicago (she was previously a company car in North Jersey, also)

I test drove an '03 the other day and it had a squeak in the drivers seat but only when breaking or turning slowly (u-turn/parking lot). Good luck.

I had the same issue and it took me while to figure it out. Try moving the seat up a notch or two from the lowest setting. When I say up I mean UP as in height not Foward. I think with it sitting directly on the tracks all the way down causes it to squeak. worked for me. good luck

You guys have read my mind. Mine has been squeeking for awhile now, i just chalked it up as me being 6'2" 275. All muscle baby, well except for the spare tire and extra chins. I will definately check the bolts and give cakedaddys answer a try.

On my 03' my seat was a little loose. I took it to the dealer and they said I needed a new lifter motor. I thought it was simply loose, but hey the warranty covered it.

CakeDaddy was right on the money! I moved the seat higher by a few notches and viola'... the seat doesn't squeek and feels firm.

I am still going to meet with the dealer to see if there is anything else troubling....

(Long dramatic pause)

Alright... You got me! I can't resist the dealerships home baked cookies and free coffee... So I'll make a morning out of it. (they also wash the car for me, too)

Thanks again, Cake.

by the way, I really miss sitting in the lowest possible seating position. I am not "THAT tall", but feel like my head is wrapped-up in the headliner since moving the seat higher? I guess I have to drive without the over-inflated 'George Kestanza'-sized wallet in my back pocket.

Exactly what Cake said, my seat squeeked when I bought my car, I learned to raise up the seat just the slightest bit and it goes away.

good deal, so cancel that appointment with Jenny Craig & Weight Watchers and have a beer and some pork skins on me .. and double up on the ready made cookies at your dealer if available.

XX, as for feeling like you are in the head liner, i barely moved mine in the up position just to take it off the track, so almost little to nothing. Plus, I'm 6'4 215lbs, so... I have to ride/sit low.

I have the same issue with my driver's seat, and have found the same solution by just barely touching the switch to "bump" it up a hair.

On the same note, I have recently experienced a rattle in my moon roof when I have it vented. I have found the same tactic works as with the driver's seat, I just open the roof all the way tilted, then simply just tap it down a hair, and the rattle goes away. I wish this fix would be useful at my work...the next time I hear something annoying, just hit a switch for a millisecond, and it goes away.

I had the same problem and initially replaced the seat rails = same problem. Then by chance did the same thing CakeDaddy described and no more squeek.

Funny how little nuances like that exist across the product line.

I had the same issue.

I lifted the seat all the way up and sprayed WD40 on the joint between backrest and the seat on the left and right sides.

Never did since then.

I have 06 M45 and my passenger seat makes noise. When I looked while driving, the seat looked like it was rattling little too much. Better get it checked, I guess.

I'll give it a try tonight!! (When I get my car back..my son has gotten used to taking my car to school while I've been out of town.)

Speaking of noises, I used to hear a lot of whining and moaning in the back of the car..but it turned out to be the wife! <rimshot>

I tried WD40 technique this morning and Ta-Dah! No more squeaky seat.

I did the wd40, but the sqeak came back after it dried up. What I stated earlier seems to be the trick for me and a few others on here, but whatever works; I'm all for it.
