04 Infiniti G35 CD player problem

Is it common for the CD player to only work on one channel?
I have only had the car a few days and tried a CD but, only the right side speakers worked.
The radio works fine.
I read something somewhere that they had ribbon cable problems.
Looking for insight

No, it is not common and indicates a problem with a seventeen year old CD player.
Your post was not clear, but if the FM radio works in both channels then you have a defective CD player.
If you only get sound out of one channel with all audio functions then you most likely have a harness wiring problem.

I haven’t tried a different CD yet.
Been busy changing struts and fluids.
Think I’ll go try right now.

Well I didn’t realize the in dash CD player held more than one disk.
I pushed the eject button and a disk came (not mine).
I pushed again an another disk came out (not mine).
Put mine in and plays fine.
Guess I should have read the directions.

My 98 Camry had the same issue. I contacted Crutchfield.com since they have lifetime tech support. I bought the head unit from them and installed it myself. They suggested it was the unit. Cd plays only on one side. Radio and auxiliary input was ideal. Installed a new unit and no issues since.
