As I was pulling in my driveway, the oil pressure light came on. I immediately parked the car and shut it off, and have not started it since. It is being towed into the dealership tomorrow, as it is the only shop in my area that will work on newer cars (seriously, I called around).

Any ideas what is causing this? Any ideas at all???

As the lolcats say, HALP!

I don't know about your car specifically. However oil pressure light could be the following on most cars - Defective SensorNo OilDisfunctional Oil Pump

How many miles since your last oil change? Have you seen any new spots on your driveway to signify a possible leak? Good luck with that, you definitely did the smartest thing. I hate reading the "well I had to get it home".

UPDATE!!

Just got an update from the dealer: Turns out my car is 2 quarts low on oil!!! And I just had it changed less than two months ago!!

No visible leaks were found, and the oil pressure sensor and pump check out. Any ideas WTF is causing this? I can only assume whatever it is is costly to fix.

Could be that whoever changed it last left it two quarts low!

It's always possible, but I watch the oil change process everytime it is done, and I'm 99.9% sure it was filled properly last time.

I've been reading in a lot of Nissan forums that the VQ35 seems to have an issue with burning oil after it gets relatively high mileage (I'm on 77K).

Seems like PCV valves and compression tests are common solutions. Any thoughts folks?

The mechanic charged you for the oil and stole it for his car

Do you smell the oil burning off your engine or manifold?

You said there is no oil puddle on the ground

If its burning that much you could not drive the car without yourwindows down (strong oil smell) and every bug would die from the smoke yourcar would be putting out

I dont think your car has that many miles but just guessing

U should check the oil every other time you get gas. Dont wait for the oil light to come on by then it might be too late.
