04 headlights what is the strip on them towards the outside

pretty self explanetory, what is the purpose of the little strip that runs towards the outside of the headlights? is it a reflector? is it supposed to light up? can i put an LED strip in it and wire that to my lights? just got my G35 coupe a few days ago and i have a few questions about it, thanks in advance!

Are you talking about the side reflector or something else?



If so, then it should light up.

i guess so, mine doesn't light up and i was wondering if it should. time to fix it!

it is called the "clearance strip". me personally i didn't like it lit up because its brighter towards the top then the bottom and doesn't match the amber turn signal. but there is a bulb up in the top corner of the back of headlight housing. little 194amber bulb should be in it
