Hey what's up guys,

Noticed oil leaking dripping from engine cover on the bottom of the car. Still have warranty for another couple of months, wondering if this is covered?

Noticed it started leaking after an oil change. Checked filter to see if it was loose, but feels tight.

Thanks.

A couple of things could be causing this.

The one that I've been guilty of is doing a sloppy oil change and getting oil on the underbody cover. The oil may not drip at first, but eventually it makes it's way to the lowest point and...

You may also have something as simple as a bad oil pan gasket.

If your powertrain warranty is still in effect, take it to the dealer. The worst that can happen is they tell you it's not covered and it will cost $XXX to fix it. You can then make the decision to do it there or take it somewhere else.

Like Nate said some of the filter (non OE) may leak. If the crush washer was not replaced that could leak. Also not putting the dipstick back correctly will cause a nasty leak.

I took it to a local speedy lube place that I always go to. Never had a problem before, but remember noticing the guy had difficulty putting the new filter on. Didn't think anything of it, a few days later notice oil drippage on the driveway.

I still have full coverage at dealer until 12/23/2008. Just got the car a month ago and dealer confirmed that I still have some time left.

Sounds like a messed up oil change, get it fixed asap before you loose more oil.

That actually may not be covered since it is not a defect in manufacturing or workmanship of the car, rather it is the result of unqualified people working on your G.

Good Luck.

You think I should take it to the speedy lube joint and have them drop the cover and check to see if everything is tight?

NO!!!

Don't ever take it there. Either do it yourself or take it to the dealer. Is the dealer far from you? If not, what's the hesitation?

Just made an appointment for tomorrow with the dealer. Hopefully it's just a sloppy oil change that is causing the leak.

Question, I took the car to the dealer last week for check engine light. Turned out that it was just a loose gas cap. Anyway, they offered me a one time fee of $195 for oil changes for as long as i own the car. They use some oil called Agip I think, not syntheic. I usually go with mobil 1 synthetic in my vehicles. Do you think it's worth it? I'll be saving a butt load, plan on keeping this car for a few years ( love it) but it's not synthetic oil .

Ask them if they'll offer the service for a price and you provide the oil.

You were right!! Just got back from the dealer and turns out that it was a sloppy oil change from the speedy lube joint. They said it was a cheap filter and oil was leaking out of it! Had to pay $69 for another oil change. About to go to the speedy lube joint and see if they give me a refund for the sloppy oil change they did, or get a free detail or a couple of car washes for free to compensate for they're sloppy job.

I would personally treat it treat it as a lesson learned and stay away from the speedy lube place. The last thing you want is another scratch, or some body damage because of an untrained moron washing your car.

Maybe they can give you a refund, but that's all I would want from them.
