Whats up guys, was driving home last night going about 90mph on the highway and my engine suddenly shut down on me. Everything else was on, lights, radio, etc. Car turned back on without a problem, but my service engine light stood on. Took the car to mechanic this morning and the computer ran up a code for the trottle actuator. Went back home took apart the trottle body and noticed that it was really dirty, filled with gunk. Cleaned it with trottle body cleaner put it back together.Disconnected the battery, i'm hoping this will turn off the engine light. Going to leave it disconnected for an hour or two. Anyone thinks this will fix the problem? Car itself is running fine. If not, how much does a trottle body with actuator will run me? Used one? Someone is parting out a G-coupe and suggested that i give him a price. what's a fair price? Will a g-coupe trottle body fit a sedan? I'm sure it does. I know this damn part is really pricey!!

Thanks in advance for any responses.

How many miles are on your G and how often do you change your air filter?

Mine gets pretty dirty and I change mine a couple of times a year.

Here is a photo of mine with 8000 miles on it.

We are having a warm day in NJ today so later this afternoon I will be treating my G to its 25th oil change as well as a new air filter. My last air filter change was in November at 71k miles. I'm up to 80,325 miles today.

Changing the air filter is a $10 DIY 10 minute job and very important in keeping the MAF sensor clean.

My G only has 47k miles. I put a z-tube on, drop in k&n last month. Prior to doing this I replaced the filter it came with when i bought the car with a fram. The filter that the car had when i purchased it was pretty nasty. Filthy!! Never saw such a dirty filter. I'm guessing this is what caused the trottle actuator to get messed up. Damn service engine light came back on last night. So, i guess cleaning the trottle body didn't work. About to purchase a trottle body, does a throttle body from a Altima, maxima, m45 fit on my G sedan. Saw some on ebay, not bad prices, they claim it will fit, as long as it is a 3.5 liter engine.

Cleaning these throttle bodies can ruin them. See the thread titled "Weird Idle - All G Owners Take Notice"

I cleaned mine and the idle NEVER dropped back down to 700 ish, where its supposed to be.

I have a remanufactured TB on its way. $103 shipped with a core refund of $12, so about $90. 350Z, Sedan & Coupe TB's are all the same from 2003-2006. Any car with a DE engine, rev-up or not, is the same TB.

I had bad luck with a TB that I got from a part-out. Make sure that it works or that he is willing to take it back if you buy it and it doesn't work.

What are the problems associated? High Idle? Erratic Idle?

The car idles fine, seems a little jumpy when it's first turned on, but other than that seems normal. The problem i'm having is when i step on the gas pedal hard the engine shuts down and I have to turn it back on, resulting in the service engine soon light. I'm going to check that link you sent. You're making me think twice ordering a used one and it doesn't work.

We had a nice day here in NYC, I waxed her up, came out great. Bought this wax at a car show called premier one, awesome wax.

About to purchase the trottle body from rockauto. It says that the relearn procedure may have to be performed. Let me know when you get yours if you performed this procedure.
