My seat automagically moves back about 1 inch every so often. Not even everytime I drive it, just on occasion.Bad switch? EZ fix??? Ideas?

I do have a Nissan extended warranty, but what if it doesn't act up for them....

Geez Rich..look at you posting where these types of quetions should be posted!!

I'm so proud of you! LOL..

So does it move while you are sitting in it?

Does it adjust itself from Auto memory?

How do you know it's moving??

Sounds weird...if it does it while you're driving, then I'd suspect the switch. If it does it while it's sitting....I'd suspect a practical joker

Hey Guys!!! I gots respsonses!! So does it move while you are sitting in it? Yes.

Does it adjust itself from Auto memory? Have yet to find an auto memory button...How do you know it's moving?? My buttocks feels it moving.....

Yes, It moves while I'm driving down the road. Again, not every time. Most of the time it moves backwards about an inch. Once, it moved forward just a bit.It is possessed!

I have never heard of one moving while driving. Especially if you don't have ADP (Auto Drive Positioner). I would highly suspect something sticky has made it's way into your switch.

Keep an eye on the front switch position, see if it moves the same as the other one. There should be the same at all four switches.

Some contact cleaner may take care of it depending on if there is any circuit corrosion and the extent of it.

Thanks Steve,What does ADP look like and I assume I don't have it.I'll look in the manual when I get a chance to see what it takes to take the switch out and clean it. Hopefully, it's not to involved.

Da*m Google wouldn't show me this pic I wanted. I will take one tomorrow with my cell and I will post is up (hopefully) by noon. There are three switched that have a set and a 1 and 2 on the drivers seat. If you do not have this then you do not have ADP.

I still think its a bad switch. Either clean it out or call Infiniti and have it replaced.

Mine does have the Prem. Package too, but no ADP(I had seen on the infinitihelp site that the 04 Prem. included ADP, but must have been a mistake)

Also, mine has only 3 switches with manual recline.

Thanks guys!!! Will try to find some spray today since I'm burning a V day.

Depending on the severity of the damage or corrosion in the switch, contact cleaner does work. If you use one with a high alcohol content (fast drying) and low residue (wont get the switch body all slimey) you should be able to get some more use out of it.

Contact cleaner kind of makes sense. The switches on the right side and facing up. All the crap can go in and can't get out. Same with the moister, spilled drink, etc.

I did get some cleaner and tried it out over the weekend. It is still doing it, but I'll give it some time and another spraying.....

This time when it went back a couple of inches, the switch would not take the seat forward until I went back a little further.....then, it went forward.

Yeah your probably going to need the switch. I would not even waste the time or cleaner on it. Just get it replaced.

Steve, is this a DIY?

I do enjoy working on my cars.

I did by a 3 year Nissan Extended warranty after I bought this one. Think there is a $100 deductable.

If you have a warranty I would say to bring it to them and have them do it as the part is slightly more than $100 bucks (IDK how much).

If you want to know how to do it, if you decide to DIY, let me know I'll write an article on it that will walk you through it.

Thanks Steve! I'll run it by my local Nissan dealer to see what they have to say since that's where I bought my warranty.
