Hi,

i'm a new member of this forum, just bought a used 04 G35X. Did anyone do the rear spoiler installation on your sedan, any comments?

Thanks in advance.

I haven't done it, but that's not a bad deal. Are they true OEM spoilers or are they knockoffs?

They are knock-offs but they still look good. I bought mine on ebay, not sure if its the same guy (its been 6mo). But I specially requested that it be unpainted and had a local guy (that I know does an awesome job) to paint to match and he threw in the installation.

I bought a ebay spoiler too. Paint match was perfect and had it on for about 10 months with no probs. It came with templates so you know where to drill. Took about 2hrs and it was super easy. I probably spent 30 min just quadruple checking the template before I drilled. If I had to do it again, it would be a 45 min job.

For the big holes you need a big drill.

I have a big tool for it.

Seriously I just wanted to put my .02 in. If you drill a hole make sure you put some touch up paint at the hole. So it won't rust.

I installed mine by myself with no problem, and I'm a chic! it took about an hour or so for me to do. I would suggest taking out the fuse for the rear brake light before connecting the wires for the spoiler light. I blew mine and you can't (at least on the 06) get it out of park if the brake lights don't work. or make sure you have spares just in case...

shy? me? not a chance! Been on here reading for a while, great info! just didn't really have much to share. but if you'd like, I'll bust into these threads on a regular basis, but I think you might get sick of me...

btw, just had my oil changed and they say the next service isn't for 8,000 miles, could that be right? i came from a Lexus and those were every 5,000 miles...

oh, make sure you have some silicone caulk to smudge around the drill holes to avoid water or condensation getting in and causing rust... and have large drill bits for the holes where you'll be going through the underside of the trunk, you'll need to be able to fit the screw and screwdriver. and if you can, use a magnetic screw driver, those screws can be slippery little suckers, and if you lose it inside the trunk frame, best of luck getting it back... speaking from experience here. good luck!

thanks again kcg35x...

i'm the member of Lexus owner forum too... i used to change my 98 LS400 or 2001 RX300 every 4 months or 4000-5000 miles and it all depends on the driving condition, i believe it is good to G35 too.

when i drove my G35x that make me to think of my 91 300ZX ( was stolen on 2001 ), i think G35 coupe should be more fun to drive... but i have to get a AWD sedan for the family not a manual 6speed sport car.
