I did search but didn't find much on this...I was thinking about going with maybe +1 tire size on the width (rear tires). Right now I am running the OEM size...245/45-18. Has anyone upgraded their tires on the 18" stock rims?

Would like to get something wider and a lower profile....255/40/18s maybe. Any Suggestions? Thx

Go to tirerack.com

Select your car. Then tires. It should show the standard tire size and then there should be a link towards the bottom of the pages for alternative tire sizes!

I have been palying around with tire sizes on here too...

http://www.bigcustomwheels.com

Just wanted to see if anyone else had tried this.

Objectives

1) Wide rear tires increase handling2) Lower the rear without getting new springs right at the moment. It sets to high in the back for me...front is ok for now.

Do you understand how the "profile" of a tire works?

a 224/40/19 and 245/40/19 both have 40 series sidewalls but the 245 is taller than the 225 because the series is actually a percentage of the width.

I personally wouldn't go with anything shorter than recommended for the fronts or the rears. Your MPG will go down, you'll peel out easier, and if you don't keep the ratio of RPMs Front/Rear, then your VDC and ABS will be off.

The next closest size so that your speedo, VDC, ABS...etc isn't off will be a 275/40/18 (rears).

That will increase your contact patch by 1.37 inches (width).
