has anyone else experienced this. it has happened to me on 2 separate occasions; once on the highway and i chalked it up to being tired and i was imaging it. then it happened again 2 days ago driving home from work. the seat stuttered forward. the switch wouldn't work immediately afterward to move the seat back but worked a minute or two later

Yes, this happened to my 04 coupe about 2 years ago.
Had the motor and assembly (comes as one) replaced under extended warranty.
Starting happening again about 6 months ago....not convinced it had anything to do with the motor....maybe the contacts.

What I've found out.
It happens more frequently with the seat completely lowered, so I raise mine up just a bit.
When it does move on it's on and the forward/reverse switch stops working, you can adjust the seat UP and the switch will start working properly.
Actually, now I think it's more in the switch than the motor.
You can take some contact spray and shoot down into the switch which might help.

Good Stuff.

I have seen dirty seat switches do everything from ghost seat movements once in a while to killing the battery every 20 minutes.

Cleaning the switch may work but if the contaminate is soda (or something even sugarier) the switch might be internally damaged.

If you can get a good one on the cheap I'd recommend replacing the switch. Takes about an hour to put it in there.
