Started it up this AM and the light started flashing.....
Anybody been thru this?? :frown:

I see a YOUTUBE on how to reset the light....is it safe to assume that the light will come back on if there is an actual safety issue??

Yup! On my 06 G35

If the light is flashing you have no air bag.

Thanks Telcoman!
I did google and found a procedure to reset it.
If it is truly broke, it will come on again....but, sounds like a common issue with them popping on.
KNOCK KNOCK....it stayed off on ride home from work.

Good and bad part of airbag fault detection logic is that if a momentary breach of communication will cause the light to flash until it is reset.

This does not mean you require replacement of anything.yet...

A few things you should know.
There was a recall for modification of the front seat airbag harnesses from a few years ago.
More recently there was a service bulletin (note NOT a recall) that states if an issue happens after the recall the connectors for the airbags should be cut out and replaced with upgraded parts.

Before having the codes wiped I would strongly suggest having the codes read (if done using a Consult, I would also suggest having the function test performed before clearing. This will ensure that you have proper functionality of the SRS system, just in case.

Thanks Steve!
Stayed off for ride into CLT and back.
Nissan replaced the bottom motor unit a year or two ago due to the seat moving on it's own....and, then it started doing it again about 6 months after that. So, the electronics in it are wacky.
If it lights up again, will see if Nissan will tell me the codes, assume that Autozone reader isn't good enuff?

Seat moving on its own huh....
Sounds like a sticky seat slider switch to me. (unless you are talking about a loose seat track, and I have not seen many of those on older Gs.
Unless the car was flooded the likelihood of having a common root cause to those problems is extremely unlikely as the only commonality is that the wires run near each other.

Autozone and GST scanners will typically only communicate with certain controllers. Most will only talk to the ECM as that is a standard communication protocol the others communicate over a network that is anything but standard.

Yep, seat will move forward or back on it's on...just a bit.
Now, I keep the seat on the lowest position, and then tilted back just a bit.
So, when this happens, usually the forward/back button will not work to readjust the seat.
UNLESS, I hit the up button first, then the forward/back button will work.

Sometimes the forward will stop going forward on occasion too.
Weird, but like I said they replaced the entire bottom unit a year or two ago and then it started back again.
I always thought it must be in the switch.
I have seen others post about the seat moving on it's own here.

Love my G, but guess she is showing her age...
Recently went to get gas and the door would not open....had to open thru the trunk. Still need to take it out and lube it.
Also, the driver door locks and sometimes it doesn't....I'm sure something there needs lubed too.
The driver door speaker sounds like it's blown, just haven't had time to buy another on ebay.

Only at 90K miles

Ahh it is physical movement not electric movement, pardon me. :)

It does happen, getting in and out of the coupe tends to stress the seat frame a little. It is rare that they repeatedly fail with a new frame. I cannot think of the last time I have replaced twice.

For the fuel door lid, you are most likely going to need a fuel door lock actuator. That is an item that shows its age. There is a twist lock on the filler side and a connector on the other end. It is probably a half hour repair.

Not sure what you mean....but the motor moves the seat as if I had pushed the button......or a ghost!!! Then, the forward/reverse switch will not work unless I move the seat up vertically just a bit.

Ahh the internet, complicating what should be a normal conversation for decades. It would be much easier if I could see it or watch the hand gestures you would normally use when describing this problem.

Is the switch sticky when trying to slide the seat forward or backward? Then I guess I am back to thinking the switch is the problem.

They go a lot faster now, at least. In 1993 I think I was using a 9600bps modem. I'm old as dirt and go back to the acoustic coupler days.

How fortunate we are to have a Steve the Tech involved around here!
