04 G35 CD Player will play "Data CD" MP3's?

After a search, I've seen some threads that state that the M45 CD player will play "Data CD's" containing MP3 files. I've tried this in my 04 G35 and it didn't work. Does any one know if this is a tagging problem with the MP3's, or does the CD player just not play them at all?

It should. I think your problem is you just need to make sure it finishes the disk when you do that. Sometimes with data disks the software doesn't 'finish' the disk so that you can append it later on. Check your settings in the software.

Okay, thanks. I'll give it a shot again this weekend. It didn't work the last time I tried, but I'll make sure the CD is finished this go 'round. Will follow up with the results.

A data CD should work in any player that supports MP3s. The only difference between the two, Jukebox CD won't let you burn other types of files like documents. So yes, it should work on the 03.

You will also have to look out for songs not coded in the MP3 format, such as songs from the iTunes store...just convert these into MP3s in iTunes.

MP3 CDs are awesome--7+ hours on one disk and organizing your music correctly puts everything in your hands.

I guess that's what I was trying to get at...whether the G35 cd player supports the MP3 format...I figured it must, as almost all aftermarket CD players do now too, but there is absolutely nothing in my owner's manual that even mentions MP3s.

It's funny that you mentioned iTunes because I think that was exactly the problem...the data files on the CD were probably in the iTune format instead.

Ummm, guys. MP3 isn't supported in G35s until 2005.

do all 2005 g35s play MP3 cds? i just recently purchased a 2005 coupe, it has the 6 disc in dash cd changer - will it play MP3 cds?

Yes. As I've stated two times previously, 2005+ Infiniti G35s will play MP3s. You should even see an MP3 logo on your radio, IIRC.

Off the wall question for you guys. Do you think an IPOD or similar would hook up to the G35 HU pre MP3 version ? Just wondering cause I know I'm f'ed on getting MP3s to work in it but if I could maybe hook up an MP3 player of some sort through an aux port might be a work around.
