Just Got an 04 Altima 2.5 SL w/ 25,000 miles on it. Nice car, love the luxury. I read about the engine-oil/antifreeze problems and asked the dealer re this. I was told that it was in earlier cars, 02's. and was assured they fixed it. ???

Previous owner didn't bring it in for the 2 recalls, I got stuck, but it was a 780.00 job done for free.

So far all I had to do was an inspection, oil change and wiper blades. OH yes, a new key, $128.00 because it has a special , dealer only micro-chip that starts the car. The previous owner only left the valet key.

With 37 lbs psi in the tires, I get around 24.5 mpg city/ Hwy. I'm not pleased, my 95 Avalon 6 cyl gets which is about the same. However it is better than my 95 Lincoln at 18mpg and premium fuel.

What is the pr- pro fuel part that is being talked about? Also the previous owner had a remote control put on. I don't have the remote, any suggestions to get one? What are the repair problems down the road for the altima and does any one think the after-market repair warrenties are worth it?

Thanks for your responses

I had a friend at work that had the same problem with buying a used car and only getting the valet key. What the heck is the problem with these prior owners not turning in their keys? I only got one set of keys (luckily not the valet key) when I bought my 03 Altima. Did you make the dealer/prior owner pay for the cost of the keys?

24.5 mpg with a 2.5 is horrible. I would get that checked out.
