I'm planning to pick up an 04 touring roadster, manual transmission with 87,000 miles on it. Is there anything specific I should look for regarding this year and body style. If all goes well, (no surprises from the dealer) I should be joining the Z family this coming Tuesday. So if you have any information that could influence my decision please pass it along.

Thanks

I decided to take a chance on the 04 350z. It has 87000 miles and the previous owner added a number of mods including larger wheels with what looks like 2" offsets. There is a cold air intake installed, and it also has a remote starter and a pioneer avic nav system. There is a 10" subwoofer in the trunk that I plan to remove, blown speaker. The front splitter has also been replace with one that extends out flat and is covered with a stone resistant covering. The interior is in good shape, everything works properly. Okay, now for the bad, the airbag light is on. I had it checked out and it needs a front impact sensor, which I ordered. I also sent the airbag control module out to be reset. The body is in excellent condition and the color is silver with a black top. The car runs and drives great. I checked for damage, i.e. prior accidents, I was informed that it had some work done on the front passenger side. Nothing showed up in the auto history report. There was no sign of any changes up front either in the engine bay or under the car.

You are probably wondering what I paid for this Z, well how does $10,500 sound? I think I could have got the price down a bit more, but I was a taken back by the fact it was $3800 below book. Still I wish I pushed a littler harder using the fact that the airbag light was on. Oh well, it is what it is. So what is the general opinion as to how I made out and what I may be in for?

I have always felt like a car is worth what someone is willing to pay. Sounds to me like you really love the car and that is all that matters. I think you did good.

Post a pic. I would love to see it. :)

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I do love the car, how it responds and handles. I'll try to get a pic up soon.

Thanks, yes the weather is great for this time of year here in the northeast and I do plan to take advantage of it.
