Hi,

I am new to this forum and am having some problems with my X. My boyfriend and his friend just rebuilt the rear end of my truck. took it out yesterday and the service engine light came on. I took it to auto zone to read the codes and have a Po154, Po328, Po455, P1168. I have the haynes manual as well so I know what the codes mean. However I do not know what the ***** the problem is. I have a 3.3 L v6 4wd xterra, it has 126,000 miles on it. I had the timing belt replaced upon purchase at 109,000mis. I know it needs a tune up and it has the outstanding ro4o1 recall still out on it. Could the recall for the fuel sending unit or a tune up throw these codes? if not where should I start looking on this to find the problem? I left the gas cap off over two weeks ago which first kicked the knock sensor code and the evap emissions leak large code. I had them cleared and now they are back. I am ready to pull my hair out as I just put everything into the rear of my truck. Help please.

Well two of your codes P0154 and P1168 are more likely due to something with your Bank 2 O2 Sensor. P0328 would not worry about. The fact you still have the recall open could be due to the P0455 code. More likely you have maybe a bad Bank 2 sensor 1 oxygen sensor but would need to diagnose it and possibly a bad fuel tank depending on corrosion and what not. I suggest have the recall done and see if that takes care of the evap code. I'm sure the 401 recall is for the fuel sending unit but what will happen is the fuel tank will rust around the seal going to the sending unit calling for a replacement of the tank. If you don't know bank 2 is the driver side of the engine and the first O2 sensor in the stream.

Thank you for the advice. There was some confusion before this for me as to where bank 1 and bank 2 are actually located. I will take the xterra to the dealer as soon as I have a chance (this week hopefully). I noticed about an hour or so ago that when I start it the idle is about 1500 rpms. She usually idles a hare over 1000 rms when I first start her but usually settles right down to 800 rpms. Now when she idles after start up shes around 1000 rpms. I don't know if that will help with anything for diagnosis. I have the haynes manual for the o2 sensor check. From my understanding the voltage must be measured and when it is warmed up it should be around .5 volts? Just want to be sure I am correct on this.

I thank you for your quick response and appreciate the help.

Marti
