03 side mirror signal question

Hi everyone, I've only had my M45 for a few weeks. I just noticed that the turn signals on the mirrors only light up on the ends. I was wondering if this is how they are supposed to be since there is a plastic lens cover that goes the length of the mirror as shown in the picture. Is that section supposed to light up as well? If so then how do I remove the cover and what bulbs do I need to replace them?

Since we are on replacement bulbs...what size do I need for the map lights and the center courtesy light? Thanks!

Hmmm!!! Good question. I never thought of why the whole lens is on that mirror since the very tip only lights up. Mine only lights up on the corner as well, and I think that is the way its suppost to be. My M is black and I've considered smoking that part out completely.

Not sure on the buld size, but be prepared Those map bulds are a pain to take out and put in. I had a misreable time attempting this. I blew a fuse in the process. The dealer charged me 6 bucks for one buld, so I asked "why so fckuing expensive" and "why can't I go to autozone" answer, "autozone buld will burn out after 2 weeks and we carry are the only place that carry the correct bulbs" argnhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

It is a styling detail ... does not light up. I kinda like it, since it breaks up the otherwise typically bland side mirror housing. I have seen a few other cars do the same ... some Mercedes Benz's come to mind.

Thanks![/quote]The service manual simply says the Map Light is "12V 8W" and the Console light is "12V 1.4W". You can find some Sylvania lights that are these volts and wattages. I remember seeing them in the Sylvania book at a local car parts place a few months ago.

I do not know if Infiniti ones will be the only source (for reliability) ... I would think that the Sylvania ones would be good too! Since I have not tried them, I cannot be sure, of course!
