Getting towards vacation time, which will be at least partly in the desert. So I should check this out. When it hot out, very hot, and probably working the truck, I get a fairly strong smell of gas. Seems like the middle of the vehicle. I'm looking at the clamps right now on the supply/return but no evidence of leakage as there will often be, but tightening them regardless. Any other thoughts or suggestions? I'm not talking 90F and on the highway, but more like 100+ and 4 wheeling. Nothing ever drips that I can see, but it doesn't take much gas to create a strong odor.

Sounds like a problem with the Evap system. Check charcoal cannister, vacuum cut valve, and all vacuum lines to them

I suppose that's a possibility. My thoughts were more on fuel supply/return, but evap might be more likely. It's not a rich condition, it's coming from underneath not out the tailpipe.

The fact that it only does this when hot leads me towards evap. Also....the strong gas odor as well. I do remember there was a recall for a fuel filler neck issue on certain model r50s. I’m not sure if this applies to your model
