03 QX4.

A couple of days ago the wife went to move the truck, but dropped her keys just as she was about to and the fob popped open. Unlocked it, don't know if with the remote or the key, and as soon as the drivers door opened the alarm went off. Nothing seemed to shut off the alarm, lock, unlock with key, fob (which may or may not be operational) key in ignition, start the truck, and the horn kept on going. Finally it timed out and shut off, only to start up as soon as the drivers door was opened. Finally I popped the hood and pulled the fuse just before I set at it with a hammer. :bang Arggg, I hate those f***ing things, the last time the horn alarm stopped a thief was probably when Reagan was pres. The cops drove by and didn't even bat an eyelash or slow down.

So today I'm trying to troubleshoot it and not making much progress with the meter but I have found it will lock and unlock with the drivers armrest switch, my fob and the hatch switch, but haven't tested the dropped key/fob yet. But not off the drivers door key lock, nor off the missing passengers side door key lock since they cheaped out on it as has become common. I'm getting continuity with the meter on all black wires in the drivers door, 12V off something, maybe white/red or similar, but nothing is making sense resistance or voltage wise. Am I trying to test transistors like a switch? Are they regular switches or "smart inputs"

Argh. Had this same exact issue with my Q45.

I seem to recall two solutions: I replaced the fob (they're available on ebay cheap) and removed both battery cables overnight.

I'll link you to the FSM, there may be an additional process listed therein: www.infinitiservicemanual.com

After spending a chunk of yesterday and a good part of today looking at diagrams, searching and testing switches I went to button it up. Things worked, then they didn't. I tried to initialize the drivers window which had been intermittent since I'd been in there a few weeks ago. It worked. Then it didn't. Then nothing worked off the master switch assy. Then I started bending wires, pushing one way, then another, and things started working. Worth mentioning is the master assy is a replacement, it has the telltale junkyard writing on it, suggesting it's been a problem before. Finally I plugged in the connector, then with a needle nose started pushing each wire all the way in as far as it would go into the connector.

As of this minute, everything works. The locks off the key. The windows, including auto up/down. Locks off the button on the master. Both remotes. I think what happened is the lock position switch didn't sense the door was unlocked by the key, so when the door was opened it thought it was still locked so it set off the alarm. And here I was, ready to blame the CPU or control unit for the locks, and it was just a bad connection on the switch assy.
