03 QX4 Dipstick

Just changed my oil and stick reads Over full with five quarts????? Just bought and oil was supposed to be new but was not very so just drained, no filter change until get back from trip next week. Been wrenching on cars 20 years and never seen this unless long time Penzoil use, sludge layer in pan. Any ideas??

The '03 has a drain-and-fill oil capacity of about 5 qt, so that's about right.

The dipstick on most nissan engines suck. You have to let the car sit for 5 minutes. If you drained all oil and changed your filter, 5 to 5.2 quarts is perfect for an oil change.
