Have a 03 with 135,00 miles on it, so far so good. But have an issue with
no cruise, traction control no ABS
Took it to my mechanic, independent foreign car guy who I like and trust.
Comes up with a ABS Code 19 left front abs solenoid short, usually indicates fault inside the abs module. They cleared the doses codes and monitored while driving and received no signal from that wheel sensor. He thinks it that might be the issue though a faulty ABS sensor usually causes it's own fault code.
They can replace for less than a third of dealer (dealer wants $1400) but he says dealer must initialize it.
Any thoughts on that??
Also my car has original water pump, I"m used to changing when timing belt is replaced but as how this car doesn't have one when is proper time to change, I don't want to be stuck one day with a leaky pump.
Lastly the transmission fluid was last changed at 85,000 miles but mechanic says it still good color, no leaks, thoughts on changing now?

dunno. maybe. what will your dealer charge you to just do the initialize?

when it squeals or leaks, or in your case, just because it is now 13 years old and has 135k on it and you dont want to take a chance.

i believe your jatco 5at will use nissan j fluid. make sure. yes, change it at least every 30k (suggest 15k drain and fill regime). if the pan has never been dropped and filter changed, magnets cleaned, then do that as well (once every 75ish k should be good for the pan drop).
