I have a 2003 Pathfinder SE with 29,500 miles and about two weeks or so ago my stock exhaust sounds like it has gotten louder. Even at idle, it sounds like it's rumbling a little more than it ever did. And when I had my friend drive away so I can hear it, it sounds "meaner". Almost as if there's a hole in the exhaust. Kind of like a muscle car exhaust. What could this be? All help is greatly appreciated.

Honestly though -- it may be either a hole or a bad gasket somewhere. I'm waiting on my exhaust to fall off. . I have a 99.5 with 67k, and it rattles a bit. . still entirely silent, but I'm eyein' a flowmaster 50 muffler :o

i know that the Vg33 engine (96-01) had problems with cracking exhaust manifolds. I believe there was a recall or TSB about it.

Your 2003 Pathfinder has a VQ35 however so it shouldnt apply to you. I could be wrong.,

I started hearing a noise on acceleration in my QX4, and I found out there are some covers or something on the catalytic converter and other parts of the exhaust system that come loose with time. They just had to tighten them and problem solved!

More than likely this is the cause.....I used the kit on my '03 with good results so far...
