03 Murano hatch lock failure

My 03 Murano hatch lock failed once during the warranty period and was repaired at the dealer.It is now out of warranty and it has failed again. I can crawl inside to the hatch and manipulate the lock to open but that is a pain. Is there a fix or must I take it to the dealer?
