does anyone have experience with removing/replacing axle seals?i replaced my drivers side axle last weekend for a torn boot, and that is when i noticed that i had a leak from the passengers side axle where it meets the transmission.i've read that it could be axle seals but i can't seem to find anything on how to remove them from the transmission? any help would be appreciated...

Get the Haynes Repair Manual for 1993-2001

Chapter 7B is for the automatic transaxle

BUT:

It refers you to Chapter 7A Part A for the manual transaxle

Go to page 7A2-7A3

Pictures 3.4-3.5 show

TO REMOVE:they say to use a seal removal tool or screwdriverand not be damage the seal bore

TO INSTALL:Use seal installer, lg sockets, or piece of pipe to seat the seal

The steps on the 5th gen should be nearly identicle to the ones I posted in this thread. zerothread/283822

I would consider brand new CV joints

Maybe the old CV joint is out of balance/warped andthe "constant velocity" motion is tearing your seal
