When I accellerate from a stop there is a slight dead spot then the car jerks forward. also a very slow down shift when i punch it at highway speeds. Anyoune have the same issues? Is there a fix?

it may so not be the actual transmission hesitation, but more the actual time it takes for the secondary butterfly's to open up in the intake manifold and let more air in....

the secondary's are closed at crusing speeds... unless you are over 4000 RPM or somewhere around there, its going to take a second for them to open up...

If you know you are going to be launching or accelerating fast, put it in manual mode and go into the lower gear ealier on and be at the higher RPM's... this will give you quicker response...

I am working on a way to improve the response of the secondary butterfly's opening up / getting more air into the motor in stock form...

my car doesn't move till it hits 3000rpm. it has some lag like turbo cars. it is very annoynig and nothing you can do about it. it is an old school tranni. its desined to shift smooth not agressive. needs diferent gears.later.

its not the trans though...

if you took out those secondary butterflys in the manifold and left them open, not only would your gas mileage go to crap, but you would have a much more responsive throttle all together...

it works on a vacuum like a turbo actuator, but controlling the butterfly's...

like I said above... im working on something for this... :D

its a powerfull car,, just have to know how to control it...

unfortunatly , when you slam the pedal, it does not just respond, some other things have to work get working to openup the air intake...

I was thinking of trying to run the car without the sendary's in place and see what kind of mileage i get / how the car is going to idle etc...

well figure it out when i get some time

Also, make it a point of asking your dealer if the TSB for transmission reprogramming has been done on your car ... makes a difference!

TSB = Technical Service Bulletin. Infiniti issued one for the 2003 (and maybe even the 2004) M45 transmission re-programming ... made a difference in my car for sure.

It is not just a matter of resetting the TCU - the program has to be changed.

I just spent some time on my Assist computer... Basicly, there is a reprogram for the TCM (Transmission Control Modual), but it is recommended only to be done if your vehicle is experiencing abnormal shifting problems... If the reprogram is done when not having any problems, it is not certain that it will not cause any problems... (If it aint broke, dont fix)...

To check, you must hook up a consolt and see the program version of the TCM, and IF experiencing the Shift Problem described it is recommended to install the TCM Update...

For giggles, next time I can, Ill hook up the consolt and see what TCM version I am running...

Care to post the TSB number for those that might not want to use the handy SEARCH feature of this great site?
