03 M45 Throttle Body spacer work?

I did the search on our site and didn't find anything on this (there probably is and I'm probably beating a dead horse.) Anyone install a throttle body spacer on an 03 or 04 M45? I would be curious what the results were. I'm skeptical of any easy bolt-on that claims to increase gas mileage.

I've visited forums for other vehicles where the response is probably 50% claim snake oil and 50% claim TBS's work (increased torque, MPG). I think each engine is designed different so the other vehicle results probably wouldn't apply to the M45's V8. Does it help gas mileage? I'm also curious about the "whistling" people report the TBS causes.

I honestly don't think you're going to see any gains in efficiency or performance from a TBS. An IM spacer, however, is a different story. Unfortunately, they don't make any for the VK45DE.
