Hi All,
Anyone else have a problem with the door speakers putting out static during radio or CD playing? Sounds like a bad wire but don't know if it's the speaker, the wiring, in dash radio or the amp. The other speakers sound fine. It's just the passenger door speaker having the problem. Also, recently my cd changer stopped playng CD's. Could the problem be the cd changer or the magazine?

Definitely sounds like a speaker issue more than anything. Probably something loose in there.

On the second part, I'd say it's the CD changer going out, that's what we've typically seen around here.

About the static, no idea yet, but do you get the same kind of static if you use the tape player? (I used mine to play as an AUX]. Try this for giggles - with no music playing, like a paused CD, could you just turn the volume high up to see what it does to the speakers?

I can't play cd's anymore and I don't have a cassette to use. Any ideas where I can find a replacement cd changer and how to go about removing the old one?

Thanks

Car-part.com is also a great resource, it is basically a online network of wrecking yard parts.

And as to how to change it, is it the glove box cd changer? You take out the push pins that hold the door stop strings, then take out the 3 bottom phillips screws, then the 1 on each side then the 2 top, take and pop the cover off the latch U bolt, and take those 2 screws out, then grab the bottom of the glove box and swing it up, like opening a garage door this will pull the glove box out then you will see 3 bolts that hold a frame attached to the cd changer to the dash beam, the frame has T like slots that hold it in after the bolts are out lift and pull to disengage, reverse to assemble.

I was able to swap out my cd changer. Thanks for the advice and instructions. I'm ready now to tackle that static speaker in the front passenger door. Does anyone know how to get to that speaker to remove it?

Thanks.

Here's a thread that might help:

Otherwise, the FSM might have pictures in addition to the instructions.
