How important is the 30,000 mile service at the dealer, Is it that you get so much done for only $650.00? Live 70miles from dealer, could I get same service done at local Nissan Dealer?

Hell you could probably do the 30k service yourself..... Its just replacing filters, like your fuel fliter, air filter, cabin filter, and changing your fluids...

Nothing you couldnt do at home in an afternoon, all this stuff is pretty simple.

Yes, you could do the work in the 30k mile checkup yourself.

Just keep an accurate record of the oil and filter purchase to prove that you indeed did the change. May be necessary for any engine warranty work!

By the way, here is a thread on service costs for Infiniti models at the local San Jose Infiniti dealer: zerothread?id=148207

At 30k I would replace all fluids:DifferentialTrannyPower steeringCoolantBrakeand follow the 90 day oil change interval.

If you do the above you have done all you can to put off problems.

Spending $300-400 [less if do it yourself] every 30k sure beats spending thousands early after 100k to replace any of these systems.

An important area that is overlooked is the AC system lube oil which can be partially replaced [every 60k] during the vacuum down recharge process.Really depends on whether you want to change parts after 120k or get 200k or more.............this can be done at 60k rather than 30k but why wait.

I am still on the oem evaporator after 16.2 years following my own advice, however the compressor did get changed at 235k......didn't fail but it began to get noiser than brand new.

Yes, definitely! I forgot to mention that I did all the above at the 30k mark on my 2003 M45, although I forget whether I changed the coolant or not (I think I did, but will look at the records to confirm).

And, of course, these fluid changes were all extra cost above the normal 30k dealer price. Although, I got a significant discount on each of them 'cause I was having them done at the same time as the 30k service.

Glad to see I was on track with the advice of experts!
