I have had my M45 since December and I have a couple issues with it.

1. The gas gauge does not work properly. It will tell me I have much more gas than I actually do or sometimes much less than I actually do.

2. I have a squeak in the driver's seat. It is irritating as hell! It sounds like I have a mouse in the seat. It sounds like it is coming from inside the backrest of the seat.

Has anyone else had problems like this?

Gas gage is a common problem, haven't read anyone having a problem with the seat.

I have the same problem with the seat. I read somewhere in this forum that someone sprayed the track with WD40 and it went away. I havent tried it yet.

I think i may have the same problem with the gas gauge.

The squeak was not fixed by the dealer after few tries . Drove me nuts also . THE ONLY SOLUTION I found is : lower the seat cushion all the way down to the bottom position of the back end ( *** end). The front part can be pithced up if you want , but the back end must be lowered all the way down .Now it does not squeak any more .

I got the squeak too. It needs a new seat track anyway, so it's going to the dealer next week. I have to keep my seat more upright than I would like and the squeak goes away.

I had the gas gauge problem. I don't have a dealer in my market so I have to use the garage that services my fleet vehicles. They contacted the Infiniti dealer I bought it from in Mpls and they told them to replace the sending unit. The problem persisted so I took it back in and they isolated it to an electrical issue in the dash. The replaced the dash cluster unit. Parts were $266 and labor was $200. All in the d**n thing has cost me about $800-$900 to replace. I found the problem by running out of gas....for the first time in my life....and figured I had to fix it.

Before you agree to the repair have them do an electrical test on the Dash Cluster. It might save you the expense of replacing the sending unit in the tank.

Since so many people have had this problem it seems like it should be a recall item.

Recalls are usually only for safety related issues. They kind of expect you to be aware of how much you drive and use the mileage, not only the gauge, to determine when to get gas.

Over the past few years certain models [across all manufacturers] have had gauge sensor failures from using non conventional gasoline........ethanol, water, and sulfur compounds...........impossible to test for all mistakes the refineries might make in day to day operation.

I had the drivers seat squeak problem when it was lowered all the way. I raise it just a hair and no more squeak.

Q45tech, with the fuel gauge problems, what is the more likely failure, the sending unit or the sensor/reader behind the cluster?
