Well i was just shopping around Wal Mart and i happen to see a tape that plugs and converts your mp3 player to be played. So it was only like 7 or 8 bucks, so i said what the heck. Let me tell you it aint that bad, the sound quality isnt as good but, i can listen to all my favorites on my MP3 player and i have about 100 songs which is cool just to listen to. Just thought i would let you guys know...something to think about for long trips...cause changing the CD changer while driving is getting more dangerous everytime i do it

Two decades ago, I did this for a CD player for my 1985 300ZX Turbo.

Clearly, it is a working solution, but the trade-offs in sound quality do leave a teensy bit to be desired, unfortunately.

As you sorta imply/say, I'd consider it a last resort option of sorts.

I'm using the same type of thing for my new 60gb portable media center... i'm just wondering if there is anyway to hardwire something into the tape deck input so whenever you select it you can play your mp3 player... something to ponder.

Check out my post on how I connected my iPod zerothread/230835. I am using a cassette adaptor, but you can't see it.

At first, I was not pleased with the sound of the MP3 player using a cassette adaptor. But now, I'm getting surprisingly good sound by switching the iPod's EQ to 'treble boost' and setting the car's fader two notches to the rear. Bass is just below half way and treble is two clicks away from max.

I'm getting good full range sound at all volume levels with these settings. It is also important to use the iPod's headphone out (not line level) and keep the volume of the mp3 player at ~50%. Give it a try.

I have a moto Q phone with a 2g memory card I hook up the same way. I use the windows media player on the phone and use the headphone jack. I had to buy a 3.5 mm to 2.5 mm peice @ radio shack to connet to the cassette. The challenge is balancing the sound. Good thing is that it brings the Bose sound system in our cars to life.
