I accidentally locked my key in the trunk on my 03 m45 and I do not have any spares. so I called the emergency road side serivce who jimmied the door and I thought I would use the trunk release to get to the key but as the car was jimmied the alarm went of and I think that disabled the trunk release so I thought if I disconnect the battery for a couple of hours I might be able to try again but that did not work so then I took the whole back seat out only to discover I still do not have access to the trunk as there are 2 back plates and one of them can not be opened. Any one has any ideas on what I can do. Tomorrow I will call dealer but I am sure either they will want the car towed to them or have an expensive charge to make me a key. either way this will end up cost me an arm and a leg.

Sorry not familiar with the 03 m45's (so forgive me if this isn't possible) but could the locksmith not pick the lock on the trunk?

i will have to ckeck on that. i think i read some where that our keys are laser cut and a lot of times the locksmith dont work on cars with laser cut keys. but i will call around to see any local lock smith will do it.

buy an unpromgramemd key from ebay (If u buy a used one u can get them for $50 or spend $80 on a brand new one). and have your dealer program it. Yes it will cost a bit but considering you currently dont have a spare this is an investment worth making.

I would stay away from locksmith and the likes because i wouldnt trust what they would do to me car.

Did your M45 not come with 2 sets of key fobs?

This is what I did to get a third key as a spare at home - my wife and I use the original two fobs, but if either one is unavailable, the third key makes a difference.

The dealer cost is high (about $180 as recall) for a new key ... a spare on eBay cost me about $50 some time back.
