I always did my own diagnostics when my check engine light came on in my 97 maxima. In order to do this I just had to turn a screw on the ECU. THis was helpful because I could fix pretty much anything based on the code it told me.

For the M, is there any diagnostics mode accessable for us..without going to the dealer? In the event that my check engine light comes on I want to be able to fix it on my own. Especially if it is ever just a stupid O2 sensor or anything.

Only basic stuff... there's a process for it... it's in the sticky's in the forum somewhere.

Most CarX locations nationwide will let you use their scanner tools to diagnose errors w/ your vehicle. Might want to look into that.

Decent OBD2 scanners are available for <$200 and the FSM is downloadable.

The first process works, however doesn't provide a significant amount of information. Basically whether it works, or not. I've never actually seen any significant info come from that screen. That's the one I was talking about in my above post.
