new to the forum.
Can someone tell me what size speakers are in the front and back doors?
Also in the back deck. Are they 6x9 or 6.5?

Would it benefit me to swap out the bose stocks with Infinity Kappa series all around excluding the subwoofer.

has anyone ever done this?

bump. n e 1 know? Would the factory bose amp power all infinity kappa swap outs?

I did this to my 01 Mazda MIllenia S. Swapped out all bose speakers and it sounded pretty decent with factory bose head unit.

I just checked the av fsm...2008...and didn't see any size spec, so unless they changed the need for this, I don't think it will be there for his. I think it is "field" service manual...just a guess.

thanks tdot. I usually just go to crutchfielddotcom, I just select outfit my car, and it usually gives me all the speaker sizes etc but when I try it this time for Y35 it says "we havent fully researched your car yet" lol darn tried the same for sonicelectronixdotcom
"No speaker information is currently available for your vehicle" grr

OK so upon further searches I found that all 4 doors have 6.5".

So for anyone needing to know 6.5"

Are you changing out the Bose amplifier? I put in a new JL audio sub in the deck with an additional amp off the Bose amp. It works good.

Actually I was going to just continue to use the Bose amplifier to power them.

Later I did want to replace the subwoofer with an infinite baffle 8" sub like this one http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_inf ... cts_id=785

possibly change out the amp too but looks like this car has little support in terms of aftermarket equipment, accessories, etc.

When you canged the speakers were you able to just do it by swapping the new speakers in and nothing else? and did they sound much better with the same stock amp? I was told that there is a different process when changing the interior speakers because they have amps separately or something of that nature.Just wanted to know for sure before I replaced mine

I swapped them out, and had to use the round portion baffle boards of the factory so it would fit flush.

Also, disconnected stock bose amp and am using a Rockford Fosgate Punch 400-4 amp to push them.

I no longer use the subwoofer. I replaced the factory and put in an aftermarket jl audio 10" sub, but it didn't sound too good so I just disconnected it. Probably need more customization. I actually need to remove it entirely but its still in there for now.

Hope that helps.

Thanks! You have the infinity reference interiors? How do they sound, I recently ordered them and this pioneer 5 channel amp http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... s/GM-D9605 . I have an old Pioneer sub in the 10 spot, I was going to purchase the Infinity Reference 10 but I figured I would wait until I got the interiors and amp installed to see if it was worth changing because I don't want to much rattling from the sub. The shop told me they would hushmat it to make it sound better. I plan on installing everything myself to see if I can make everything sound good and save some money. Did you replace your stock radio? If so did you lose the steering wheels controls? I have a double din installed and still have the volume control from the steering wheel but the shop told me, I would lose the steering control if I replace the amp because everything is tied into the amp, wasn't sure if they were correct, that's why I am asking

No I have the Infiniti Kappa line. They sound loud, but unfortunately I still have the factory radio.
I wasn't aware that you could swap it out. Did you pull out your gps display and put the radio in there?

Man I saw your Youtube video. Looks cool man, had no idea that this could be done. I never personally measured the Double Din but figured it was too wide. Seems to fit good in your din. I have a double din pioneer radio that I can install just like that too then. :)
Seems like a lot of work. Did you do it yourself or have the shop you mentioned do it for you?

Yea, I had been thinking about it for a while after I saw the video with the Q45 who moved the stock screen below but he only have a garmin type navigation up top. The shop did everything but I asked a lot of questions and it doesn't seem that hard if you have some experience with installing radio. With the screen its just really extending the wires to relocate the screen below. For the install of the radio and wires, they used a few different Metra Axxess/pac audio harnesses and modules. They relocated the tape player to where the cd changer was. They only issue he has was really the depth behind the screen up top but he made it fit, said he had to modify the ac/heater connection a bit. I think that can be avoided using one of the double dins with less depth ( http://www.crutchfield.com/S-2IkVD06Yqi ... X-007.html , http://www.parrot.com/usa/products/aste ... oid-smart/) , you won't have a cd player but most people don't need those anymore. The guy at the shop told me I am probably the only who has that done right now.
