Over the past week or so I've had to jump start my G35 3 times because the batter kept dying when I let it sit for more than 2 days. I took it in to the dealer, and they said it was caused by the radio not going into sleep mode and causing battery drain. They're saying it will cost over $2300 to replace (and of course I'm out of warranty)!

Has anyone ever had/heard of this problem before? Also, is $2300 way too much? I know that the radio board is connected to the climate board, so I don't know if there's any other alternative to paying the dealer to replace the radio. I have the Bose system BTW.

Sounds fishy...have you replaced the battery? 4 years is right on the mark to get a new one anyway...

I actually had the battery replaced last spring, so it shouldn't be failing in just over a year. I should hope the dealer wouldn't just lie to me, but I guess you can never really tell.

You could test their theory by pulling the radio fuse...

Hello,

I have ran in to this problem before. If it’s coming from the radio I can fix it. I can do this repair for $225 if this is the only problem you are having (high current draw from radio unit)

Are you located in Los Angeles? As far as the dealer's told me, it is just a case of the radio failing to enter sleep mode (and thus drawing power) when the car is turned off.

Well thats what he may have told you but it is more complex than that. I am located in Northern California.
