Just purchased this 03 G35. I have experienced an infrequent popping noise mainly while turning the wheel in reverse, but it has also occurred going forward while breaking & turning. I had a non-infinity guy say it was the bushing on the lower control arm. He said both the bushings looked bad. I've since learned this control arm is called a compression rod on the G35. In review of the various forums it appears this may be my problem, but I can't tell for sure. I'm at a point of information overload. Is there anyone that can help me with this? I don't want to jump the gun & start replacing stuff & making it worse &/or still left with the problem.

Thanks,

Elk8010

the vdc does a brake check while using reverse after you cover 10 to 20 ft ... sometimes less . Scared the hell outta me . Thought I hit something .

Turn off the vdc

I'll try that, but I've had the pop occur going foward as well. Do you know anything about the compression rod and/or bushings? Take a look @ the below link. It pretty much describes my problems, but everyone is all over the place. My problem is limited to the infrequent popping.

dude i have the same problem now......i think its one of 2 things.

1.-i think it may be my shocks.....they wear out and 'pop' sometimes.

2.-i also think its a ball joint in the stearing....your bushings.

Its not the ABS self test that Astro mentioned. That only happens once you start going forward, usually between 1st and 2nd gears. If it happens in R, you'd have to be going in R for a long time because its never happened to me in R. And its not a pop, its more of a whurr.

seriously dude.....SCREW KERNEY MESA INFINITI!!!!!!!!!!! i hate that place...they let my car sit and jerked me around for over 2 months about a 'under warranty' transmission....

but ok, i found the problem. i put my car on the lift and SOLVED this issue....

It was the sub frame. the cross member behind the front tires and oil pan. I couldnt belive it. the 6 bolts were all about 1.5-2 turns loose. the whold sub frame was moving when the car flexed. aka-reverse to forward- or turning movement.

If you tighten these bolts all of you G owners out there will be happier....lol

i used an impact wrench to do this. took less than 10 min on the lift.

If you have any other issues let me know... hope i helped!

(p.s.- it may not look or feel loose, but it is!)
