2003 G35 Coupe with 73,000 miles.

Purchased the G back in December ('06) and loving every minute of it(sold off my vette and have no regrets). I was informed about the window not working properly when I bought the car. Initially the window would go up/down sporadically (while pressing/pulling on window switch). Now it has no response from the switch.

The only information I can give is a "clicking" noise when I engage the switch. It's as if it wants to work but is restricted.

After reading through the posts (as directed from the "Read this before posting" post), I realize it's a good probability that it is either my motor or regulator. I did find one post which talked about replacing the regulator in a Q45(great directions).

The individual who posted stated his motor was good. My problem is, assuming it is either the motor or regulator, how do I determine if my motor or regulator is properly functioning.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

BTW, a FSM would be great.

I imagine you will have to ope up the quarter panel to observe.

Like Brian said, you will know when you crack open the door panel. If the regulator cables are snapped and the motor turns it's just the reg. I will say that it does sound like a motor issue. A lot of times the motor will sound like it's working fine but there just isn't any movement in the window, if that's the case it's most likely the regulator. We sell the motors 2-1 over the regulators...

Thanks for the info. I will pop off the panel tonight(time allowing) and let you know.

Joe - I bought a 02 sensor from you guys a few months back. So either way, I will be calling again. Should I ask for you by name?

I've got the door panel off and now have a more specific question. The motor has no response when I push/pull the switch. I have removed the motor from the regulator to verify the motor is not restricted by the regulator. Nothing.

Something interesting. I notice a click sound approximately 1/2 second after I push then release the switch. The sound does not appear if the motor is not connected to the switch. Kinda like a build up of electricity and it has no where to go. Sorry for the lack of technical terms.

Cables on the regulator seem to be fine.

At this point I could assume the motor is faulty but could it be the switch? More specifically, without being able to test, what is the probability it is the motor/switch. I understand it would only be a guess, but I'd rather have informed information before I buy one or another.

Thanks,Marc

If you have a voltmeter, you can figure out when you push the window switch whether there is 12v or so at the motor...if there is juice at the motor when the switch is on, then you know for sure the motor is bad....or try to bypass the window switch by removing the plug into the switch and jumping it with a small wire...again, it would be helpful to have a voltmeter to do this....
