Hey guys need some advice here. Im thinking about buying an 03 G35 Coupe and was wondering if there are any common problems with these cars. I have heard the brakes go out very fast but other than that it has all been positive about this car. Any advice or information would be great!

Number 1 issue, oil consumption. Number 2 issue, tire feathering. Number 3 issue, OEM brake pads. As you have already said, though, overall a good car. Some are plaque with worse issues than others. Just make sure to get all maintenance records for the vehicle.

Haven't had any of those issues in my year of owning one. Guess it may be hit or miss.

oil consumption only on 05/06 manual transmission cars.
If you get an 03, its probably had most of its issues dealt with already. Knowing the history is better.

I have a 03 G35 coupe, and granted i have only had it for a couple of weeks now but i love the car. Best thing i can say is to try and get some type of warrenty on it. I have a 60K mile or 6 year, that will put me at about 100000 miles when it runs out. I have had only one issue so far... the CD unit gave me the Err FO code but after turning it off for about 5 mins it worked fine. I looked for over 2 years for this car and i can say that is was 100% worth the wait.

Negative ghost rider.

I have already had my Long Block replaced and guess what, it still burns oil so there will be another one coming in the near future. My dealership replaced 3-4 of 03-04 Long Blocks last year.

Original engine only had 51k miles, the replacement only has 4500 miles on it.

tire feathering isn't a problem....but the front control arm inner bushings are. If they go bad you will wear your tire like you have -10 camber.

radio control circuit board goes bad

all-in-all very few problems.

i have 156K miles on my G now.

For the most part, the 03-04's have minor issues including the radio/AC board, tire feathering, brake dust and cheap paint on the front bumper. The REVUP engines (05-07 6MT G35 coupes and 05-06 6MT G35 sedans) are more likely to have oil consumption problems.

Bad32,

My '03 Coupe just turned 51K miles. It isn't driven during the winters here in the Northeast so rust has not been a problem. In seven years, my problems have been; Window regulators twice. The drivers side remote door lock doesn't work (started this year). On my third set of tires. Edges of all the front tires have worn to nothing. Alignment doesn't help. Design flaw. Rears just wore out (too much fun!) Mine's a six speed. The Brembo brakes are incredible!!!!! No rotor or pad problems. Still on the originals! That's it. Extremely reliable car. Highly recommend one. If you live where it gets cold, don't expect the seat heaters to help. Worst of any car I've owned.

When cold I think the seat heats help quite a bit. Has been very nice a couple times after skiing.

Biggie,

You're correct if you are taking an hour long trip. On a short run of three miles or so in November, the seats are still "cool" at the end. Dealer says the heaters are in spec. Most other owners I've met had the same complaint. Talk about nit picking. Got to be honest though. I chose the G 35 over the 350 Z because I could get both the heaters and the Brembo's. Nissan has since figured that out. Then proceeded to garage the car all Winter each year!

True it doesn't heat up really quick or anything, but I'm so hot natured that its good for me. Wished I had Cooled seats for these days.

My biggest issues with Nissan cars are they rust. I come from old GM cars that where known for rusting, but Nissan's are the worst i have seen so far.

I have an O3 G35 Coupe- had it since zero miles and has 110K miles now. Have done the regular maintenance per the book and only thing I had to replace was the Radio/5 CD player/changer once in 04 under warranty as one of the CD got stuck. I use premium gas and get an average of 21+ MPG. Off course no rust problem in So. Calif. AC, heater all work fine. Had replace belts, trany oil, differential oil, and spark plugs at, 50k & 100 K, it's just a gr8 sport car for the price. Every thing works as it should. I drive at least one tank full every week.

The exterior and interior can compete with new car, off course you have to maintain it regularly.
It drives great, I actually have alignment done every 5k ( I have life time alignment with Firestone shop) and this is my 3 set of tire and may be 4th soon.

Simply No Major problem... since Dec 2002 when I bought it.
