Hey Guys, I'm Doc. New here. I have a 2003 Frontier XE, 4X4 3.3L NON-Supercharged. Last week while sitting in the cab for lunch, the truck just shut off. I can get it restarted and it will run for a few minutes, then it shuts off again. If i keep my foot in the throttle, it will kepp running, but dies again as soon as I take my foot off. I've replaced the Distributor Cap, the fuel Filter x2, and the fuel pump. I know I need a new battery, but I can't figure out what it just shuts off. and before someone ask me the silly question, yes, it has fuel in it. I need some help and I need it fast. Thanks guys.

Is the Check Engine Light on? I would imagine there would be some codes associated with that failure. Should be able to get them read and point you in the right direction.

Maybe it jumped timing or something.

Papasmurf, she runs smooth when she does run. had the codes read before she completely died on me, and nothing came up that would just shut it off.

mac, I believe some codes do not light MIL and you just have to PERIODICALLY check , right any down, clear, then TEST & DRIVE.

possible you got a bad fuel pump. Chances are it's either loss of fuel or spark.

Dizzy's are known to go bad in these trucks from time to time as well.

At this point you'll have to do the basic checks of spark/fuel/timing.
A quick way to check for lack fuel is to squirt a little gas or starting fluid past the throttle body and try cranking it. If it fires up and then shuts off, you've got a fuel delivery problem and not a spark problem.
