Need help/suggestions on what to do.

Driving home today and CD player went to change CDs, now it just runs like a gear is broke, can't eject them. It just tries and then says "CD ERR FO".

I'm assuming its completely dead and I'll have to rip it out and tear it apart to retrieve the 6 CDs. Also assume due to year its not covered under any warranty (less than 40k on the car).

Anyone know prices on these units from dealership?
Prices and places to get Double DIN kit for aftermarket replacement?

This has royally pissed me off.

Thanks

Sorry to hear! :frown:
Rachel's cassette deck in her 00 Max went south. It's what she uses for her IPod.
Went to Freeman's http://www.freemansstereovideo.com/loca ... ?menu_id=1
and asked about upgrading her to a multi-CD player.
THey said that they have people come in daily with problems with their multi players and advised against it. IF that is the case, might be a good time to look at other options than CD. The closest Freeman's is probably Cornelius or Concord, but might be worth calling.

I think Rachel's saving up now for a new radio. Installed it's like $230 but will have the Ipod connection and usb port.

Current plan is the dealership gave me the name of a guy who repairs them, they use him. Basically rebuilds the radio including the A/C components for around $225.

So now I've just got to figure out how to get this thing out (I'm use to simple S13 stuff).

Wow FSM is confusing for pulling the dash panels off. Going to wing it tomorrow after work. And hopefully drop the radio off Thursday.

Little over 30 mins of work, not quite as bad as I expected, but will be a b**** to get back in. There is only 3 screws that hold the A/C, radio, 2 vents, etc in the center console, its just so tight of a fit it doesn't ever move.

All of the below only contained 12 screws (6-glove box, 1-driver lower panel, 2-clock, 3-radio/vents/ac/etc). Whole lot of snaps.

So you want to remove a G radio...

$225 for repairs (CD gears, motor, board, and rebuilding the HVAC controls since they usually go out sometime)
Hour work of removing and installing
Hour driving to deliver and pick up

But its fixed and has a year warranty on it as well.
