I have an 05 6mt coupe with lightened flywheel and stock clutch.

First dyno on a dyno dynamics: 273rwhp

Mods: Blox spacer and grounding wires

Second dyno on a dyna pack: 286 hp to the rear hubs (no wheels).

Mods: Blox spacer, polished lower plenum from an auto, grounding wires, slightly modified intake (blocked off lower baffle).

Btw, I have the revised rev-up engine. And the stillen grounding wires don't do anything . Mine will show better results.

The lightened flywheel was installed by the previous owner. Not sure which brand, but it's aftermarket. I'm thinking probably in the 13-18lb range.

It chatters at idle where the stock clutch/flywheel is more quiet.

The 05+ G35 6mts had the Rev-up engine. By comparison to the automatics and previous engines, it has a different intake design and higher redline (7000 vs 6600). It's peak torque is slightly lower than the automatic, but it produces more peak HP.

Many of the rev-up engines have oil consumption problems. The issues was caused by poor quality control in the piston rings. The revised engines have the newer, probably higher quality, piston rings. My engine was replaced at 55k miles for oil consumption.

My G just seems to put out more HP than most. The shop owner that I dynoed my G at last was a little surprised too.

I put down almost as much peak HP as a fully modified 05 that was there running full exhaust, intake and tune, the only difference is his torque curve was much smoother and had a higher peak than mine (this is a big deal!!!).

so i see the why ur hp is much higher. i was told today by to other 06 350z owners that only had light weight flywheels that they dynoed quite high too 1 was running a 18lb and the other was 13lb. both had intake and motordyne plenum spacers. 18lb flywheel made 278whp and 13lb made 285whp torque however sucked on the 13lb it wasnt steady like the 18lb and was peaky. they say when they race from 10mph role the lighter weight flywheel makes a huge differance in acceleration how ever when at highway speed they stay pretty much equal. im interested in getting a light flywheel but i was told that driving under 2000rpm can be rather bumpy and not pleasant is this true with your car? i ask because when im cruzing on back roads i like to keep it in 6th and most of the time im at like 1500rpms?

The lightweight flywheel is beneficial in all situation where you're accelerating the wheels. The lower weight and subsequentially lower mass means that more power can be applied to the wheels.

The two downfalls are that the lower mass translates into lower inertia which means you'll have to feather the clutch more on hills (not much, but more). The other issues is the chatter/noise that comes with the lighter weight clutches.

I would find a G owner in your area with a lightweight flywheel to compare. I don't make it a habit of driving under 2k because the car does drag. Even with the stock flywheel this happens.
