I've never heard of it... however, you can easily add aftermarket bluetooth setups for $50 these days. Motorola makes some, it's basically a glorified FM transmitter.

When I bought mine the salesman thought the voice activation was bluetooth. I had to tell him what it was.

That's funny, I just got in an argument with a girl who has a 03 M45 who was telling me she has Onstar. She wouldn't listen to me that Onstar is a GM product. She thinks her voice recognition system is Onstar. I didn't have time to argue with a dumb broad like that. She told her friends she didn't like me because I challenged her. God help us!

Well at least our cars cannot be turned off by the wheel in the sky. I know that in theory it is great that Onstar will now be able to turn off the accelerator in times of theft, O.J Simpson car chases, etc. But I must say I find it somewhat pervasive that a company would have control of my car. Think of the havoc that could be wreaked if/when Onstar is hacked or the system has problems. I suppose it is good to know your engine temp or any other issue that would show up on a indicator lamp by pressing a button.Cheers,M.L

She is, of course, wrong.

But, one thing to be aware of: many car companies were selling OnStar services under their own brand name for some years. OnStar was providing that as a product for them, separate from GM. Lexus, Acura ... to name a few.

However, this has changed as of the 2008 and 2009 model years. GM decided to make OnStar a differentiator for their own cars only, and put it on all GM models. So the other car companies are looking at alternatives - that are probably going to come out in their 2010 and 2011 model years.
