I just received a letter from Infiniti today regarding a recall.

"On some Model Year 2003-2004 M45 vehicles, the driver's side seat-mounted side air bag could stop working due to a connector issue. If this occurs, a red air bag warning lamp would illuminate on the dash to warn the driver. If the lamp is ignored, the driver's side seat-mounted side air bag may not inflate in a crash."

Infiniti will correct the problem at no charge and will take approximately 1 hour.

Just making sure that everyone knows about this. If you purchased your M used, Infiniti may not have an address to mail the recall to.

Thanks much for the info! I will check to see if I got the notice ... tonight when I get home.

I just got this today as well. Nothing listed on the NHTSA site though, which is a little weird. Usually these campaigns start there, so this may not be an actual "recall." If anybody has more info, please post it.

This may not be a government mandated recall. Infiniti may just feel it'd be better to remedy this issue rather than to fight a lawsuit later on if someone gets hurt and they knew there was a design flaw.

My guess is the fix will be to put a $0.05 zip tie or some tape on the wires so they aren't flopping around and the connector doesn't come undone.

Maybe a large company is doing something just because it is the right thing to do. It's a nice thought anyways.
